Glen Wright Place at Pleasant House is a 25-unit permanent supportive housing development that will transform an existing property at 1440 Pleasant Street into a modern, accessible building designed to better serve individuals who have experienced homelessness and mental illness. The project replaces an outdated single-room-occupancy (SRO) structure with thoughtfully designed efficiency apartments that offer greater independence, privacy, and dignity.
The new development will include a range of features that support both stability and community living, including a secured, 24-hour monitored entrance, a resident lounge, exercise room, shared kitchen, laundry facilities, and dedicated space for on-site case management. The building is fully accessible, addressing limitations in the previous structure and ensuring residents can navigate their homes and shared spaces with ease.
Supportive services will be provided on site by Tender Mercies and partner organizations, continuing a long-standing commitment to comprehensive care. Current residents will be temporarily relocated to other Tender Mercies properties during construction, with the opportunity to return once the new building is complete.
The project received a 9% Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) award in 2025 and reflects years of coordinated effort, including a successful appeal to reduce property valuation challenges that threatened feasibility.
Glen Wright Place at Pleasant House represents a broader commitment to expanding supportive housing through collaboration and thoughtful investment, ensuring more individuals in our community have not just a place to stay, but a place to belong.
